My new album, Far From Home, will be arriving in just a few weeks. Take a look at my liner notes and I am sure you will want to pre-order a copy.

Session Recordings

These tracks were recorded at various sessions that I frequent.  The IAANJ session tracks are part of a CD series, contact Iris Nevins for ordering information.  For more recent recordings,   visit my new site, The Boston Session Blog.

Farewell to Nova Scotia -- I've been singing this song for twenty years -- I first heard it at a choir festival, of all places.  Recorded at the Green Briar, February 11th, 2008.

Gaelic Princess -- The princess in question is my wife, the incomparable Ms. Findlay.  Recorded at the Green Briar, February 11th, 2008.

Hughie the Graeme -- A ballad I first learned from the singing of Daithí Sproule, but have since put my own stamp on.  Recorded at the Green Briar, February 25th, 2008.

The Witch of the Westmoreland -- I learned this great song (written by Archie Fisher) from the singing of Stan Rogers.  Recorded at the Green Briar, February 11th, 2008.

Lord Thomas and Fair Ellen -- Another song I have been singing for two decades, I first encountered it in a book that belonged to my mother.  Recorded at the Green Briar, March 3rd, 2008.

The British Army -- I learned this great satirical song from Carl Hylin, who I played with in the mid-1990's.  Recorded at the Green Briar, March 3rd, 2008.

The Lily of Tyrone -- My version of 'You Rambling Boys of Pleasure' recorded at the IAANJ session.

Bríd Óg Ní Mhaille -- A slow air on the flute, from IAANJ Session CD 8.

As I Roved Out/Castle Kelly -- A Nova Scotia song, paired with an Irish reel.  From IAANJ Session CD 5.

Amhrán Shandyston Mheiriceá -- Seo an chéad amhrán Gaeilge a cheap mé ariamh -- amhrán molta mo bhaile sna sléibhte Kittatinny, in iarthuaisceart Nua Jersey Mheiriceá.  Ar an taifeadadh seo, chas mé é ag an gClubhouse, roimh ghoil go hÉirinn chun é a chasadh ag Fleadh Cheoil na hEireann.  Fuair mé an dara chéim leis, ins an gcomórtas Amhrán Nua-Cheaptha Gaeilge.  Nílim sách sásta leis an taifeadadh seo -- rinne mé cupla botún beag gramadacha, agus b'fhéidir nach raibh an blas is fearr atá agam air.  Ar aon chaoi, níl taifeadadh ar bith eile agam, so seo dhaoibhse!  Ta na focail le fáil óm bhlag-sa, Ríocht na nGael.

Mystery Man -- A song about a memorable (and paradoxically, also fuzzy) night in Amsterdam.  From IAANJ Session CD 9.

Easter Sunday/Patrick's Night/The Four-Leafed Shamrock -- A reel set I learned from Bev Buchanan, of Lexington, Kentucky.  From From IAANJ Session CD 7, this track features the whole session crowd at the Clubhouse, including the great piper Jerry O'Sullivan on the last tune.
